Year 7

Semester 1 VS Semester 2 grades

Subjects that I improved on

Before AKAM, I was doing PYP in an Aga Khan school in dar, and since it was still elementary, I was not taught or told about criteria, marking schemes and a lot of other factors that would come into play when I joined MYP. It was extremely difficult moving in at first, as I had no clue what any of the criteria meant, and I was even confused about some subjects.

I later on got used to it, but with barely any guidance. I remember on my first math test when I had scored a 3 in criteria A because I didn't know what BODMAS or algebra was, but I later improved which can be seen from the difference in semesters 1 and 2.

Humanities, science, PP and DD were some of my stronger subjects in year 7, as I was not only extremely passionate about those subjects but I also performed the best in those. I loved humanities and even scored a 7 in June exams. PD and DD were extremely fun too as I found out that I loved innovating and creating new things, and these two subjects were the base of my passion for technology and creation later on.

On the other hand, though, I had subjects that I was less active in, like English, French and Swahili (the languages). I found it very difficult to follow what was going on in English, as I had no idea what stylistic devices were or structures, nor how to make a comparative text. My French and Swahili skills weren't the best either, but thankfully I was able to improve my Swahili in the second semester. As for English and French, I didn't make enough improvements to help with my in-class and grade-wise learning.
